Project Description

ROS was contracted to provide environmental remediation and demolition services at a former Chlor-Alkali manufacturing facility that produced chlorine, sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid by electrolysis utilizing the mercury cell process. Building structures, equipment, piping and miscellaneous structures were contaminated with organic and inorganic constituents as a result of historic manufacturing or storage activities performed at the facility. The remediation action performed by ROS consisted of three major activities: asbestos abatement to remove all asbestos containing materials (ACM), decontamination to clear process equipment and other building components of mercury and other chemical contamination, and demolition to remove all of the former process equipment and other building components.
