Comprehensive Decommissioning Services

Project Description

ROS was contracted to perform comprehensive decommissioning services at a large chemical manufacturing facility in Philadelphia, PA. To begin the project, the process history for each production area and tank farm were reviewed and summarized in detail. The characterization process began with a detailed structural safety inspection to ensure safe access. ROS then performed a detailed hazmat survey and an asbestos survey of 5 large tank farms and approximately 6 large chemical production areas containing multiple buildings. The results of the surveys were detailed in separate characterization reports. Once results were in from the analytical laboratory, ROS field marked the locations of all hazardous materials to help guide the decommissioning process. Additionally, ROS traced and tagged hundreds of piping runs between active process facilities and those to be decommissioned.

Over a 10 month period, ROS self-performed the decommissioning of the five tank farms, and six production areas for numerous process lines.
