Creosote Site Remediation
Project DescriptionSeveral of the local high school athletic fields were previously the location of a wood treating facility. The former wood treating facility was used to force creosote into railroad ties. The ties were removed from the treatment vessel to various staging areas where they drip-dried. The process resulted in creosote contacting soil in the treatment area, drying area and lagoon(s). ROS excavated, transported and disposed of 17,000 tons of creosote impacted soil from the running track, baseball field and practice areas without damaging the track surface or other facility features. Work was “fast tracked” for completion prior to the start of the school year. All of the excavation areas were restored to pre-work conditions. |
