UST Closure

Project Description

Previous operations at this site included storage of petroleum products in underground storage tanks (USTs) and above ground storage tanks (ASTs), and the blending of products for the retail and wholesale distribution of petroleum products. URS provided a Work Plan and estimated budget to meet the scope of work specified by PADEP. Upon approval of the Work Plan, ROS hazcatted, bulked, sampled and arranged for the disposal of all waste materials. Site closure was completed according to PADEP’s technical guidance document and included the removal of 14 USTs, with a total capacity of 232,000 gallons, and the closure of one AST. ROS transported more than 1,000 tons of contaminated soil for off-site disposal and disposed of 31 drums of other miscellaneous waste. Other activities included the demolition of the bulk loading rack, site reconnaissance, general site cleaning and marshalling of small quantity containers. ROS self-performed all of the site activities and completed this project $150,000 under budget.
