Soil Removal & Groundwater Remediation
Project DescriptionROS was contracted by Degussa to perform remedial construction services at a former manufacturing facility. The scope of work included the removal of several concrete structures, the construction of access and haul roads, the excavation and off-site disposal of approximately 3,500 tons of mercury and PCB impacted soils and the installation of a ground water treatment system. During the excavation activities, the impacted soil was stockpiled in 22-ton piles on plastic. Each pile was then analyzed for mercury and PCB concentrations to determine appropriate disposal options. Once the excavation activities were complete, ROS installed a groundwater treatment system. The system consisted of six recovery wells. The wells were piped to a treatment trailer where the water was treated via carbon prior to re-injection into the ground water. |
