Dredging & Dewatering of E Pond Sediments
Project DescriptionROS was assigned to design a remediation system to restore lost capacity of E Pond (~3.6 MG). This pond is utilized to provide both solids settling and retention time for cooling of discharge without disruption to plant operations. The plant has an average flow rate of 3.5 MGD, permissible discharge of 20 ppm (24-hr daily average) and temperature less than 100F. ROS was additionally tasked with removing the vegetative growth of phragmites that have reduced the capacity of E Pond by an estimated 25-30%. All sediments were transported by rail to a non-hazardous industrial waste landfill in South Carolina. Overall, 9,696 cy of sediment were removed. URS will perform the following scope of work to successfully complete this project:
